May 17, 2007: Important Information for Windows Vista, IE 7.0 & Office 2007
Information Technology Services Support is conducting an analysis of Microsoft Vista, Offfice 2007
and Internet Explorer version 7.0 (IE 7) for implementation at CSUB.
ITSS requests that campus departments, business units and members of the campus community defer
implementation of Windows Vista, Office 2007 and IE 7 until the results of the analysis have been
completed. There are software programs currently used at CSUB which are not compatible with these
newer programs.
ITSS requests that any electronic documents created on a computer with Office 2007 be saved in an
Office 2003 or previous version format. You may download a converter pack provided by Microsoft at
the link found below which will allow you to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations
in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. All critical and high
priority Windows and Office updates must be done prior to installing the converter pack.
If you have additional questions regarding this QCT, or require assistance installing and/or using the
converter, please contact the Help Desk at x2307.

January 16, 2002: Printer-cord Recall
A printer in your area has been identified as possibly being affected by
a printer-cord recall. Please follow the instructions below immediately
in order to have your cord replaced:
Hewlett-Packard Printer Cord Recall
Problem: The plug that connects the power cord to the printer may
crack, exposing live electrical contacts and presenting a hazard for
electric shock or electrocution.
Product: The recall is isolated to Longwell "LS-7C" gray two prong
power cords. The cords were shipped with certain HP DeskJet and Photosmart
printers in the U.S. and Canada from April 2001 through January 2002.
How to determine if your cord is part of the recall:
Step #1: Do you have one of the following printers?
DeskJet 800 series, 900 series, Photosmart 1000 series, 1100 series, 1200
series, 1300 series
Step #2: Is your cord gray?
If your power cord is black it is not affected by this recall. If your cord
is gray proceed to step 3.
Step #3: Identify & Inspect the power cord.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or power source (do not unplug
the cord where it connects to the back of the printer). Call the Help Desk
at x2307 immediately, and advise the representative that you are calling
regarding the power-cord recall. Information Resources Technology Support
is coordinating the efforts of the power cord recall, and will proceed with
order replacement soon. You will be contacted as soon as the new cord arrives.
For more information, Hewlett-Packard maintains a Frequently Asked Questions
page regarding this recall at .
Thank you for your immediate cooperation!
