FACT hosts a monthly Open
House, the first Saturday of each month during the school year, from
1-4 pm, October through May. FACT will also be open during the
annual fundraising BBQ for the Birds.

OPEN HOUSE
CSUB
students and staff will give tours and demonstrations of birds of
prey. Educational gifts and souvenirs will be available for purchase
to support the non-profit wildlife rescue and education program.
Visitors
can see:

our Kestrel display.

See the
Golden Eagle display.

See a
variety of local birds of prey, including Red-tailed Hawk,
Swainson’s Hawk, Great Horned Owl, Barn Owl, and Golden Eagle, as
well as, songbirds, dragonflies, butterflies, squirrels, gophers,
lizards, and more.

See up
close Barn Owl or Great Horned Owl and study owl pellets to learn
what wild owls have eaten.

Learn
about FACT's animal rescue and bird foster parent program.

Buy
t-shirts, Zoobooks, coloring books, cards and other educational
materials to support FACT's education programs.

Tickets
are: $15 adults, $10 seniors (60+) and CSUB students,
$6 kids 5-12
DIRECTIONS: FACT is located in the
Environmental Studies Area on the south east side of the CSUB campus.
To get to FACT enter the CSU Bakersfield campus from the south
entrance off of Camino Media Blvd. Just after the
information booth the large parking lot on the right is the access
road to the facility. Turn right in the first driveway. Go
through the parking lot past the recycling drop off area, at the
softball field backdrop find a short dirt road and follow it over the
campus bike path (yield to traffic on the bike path) to the
Environmental Studies Area/FACT parking area. The parking area is
lined with railroad ties, please park straight in toward the fence or
railroad ties.

Friends of FACT support the wildlife
rehabilitation aspect of our program by sales of items at our
monthly open house and annual barbecue. Join the fun, become a
friend of FACT. Our effectiveness is dependent upon our members,
donors and benefactors.
Fact's
mission is to serve as a wildlife rescue, conservation, & education
project for California State University Bakersfield.
Local
wildlife, especially birds of prey, and endangered species, the school
and the community have benefited from FACT since 1975.
Dr. David
Germano is the Director of FACT and ESA;
Ms. Marlene Benton is
the Coordinator of ESA/FACT. Students and volunteers help in the daily
operation of the facility under the direction of Ms. Benton.
